Executing justice is part of God’s identity

1 John 1: 5 tells us, “This is the message we have heard from Him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.”

In Deuteronomy 32:4 we read about God, “His work is perfect, for all His ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is He.”
That’s God for you! He’s the epitome of holiness, light, righteousness and goodness. And that’s not all, there are so many more attributes of God that can be named as part of His identity. He has the incredible job of preserving and protecting this identity. Isn’t it mind-blowing that this perfection is found in the whole of creation, where everything is in order?
Just imagine if God were to abandon His perfection. Then everything would be in question. In fact, it would be the end of all things. Creation would descend into chaos. Therefore, God must demand of men what He says in Leviticus 19: 2: “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.”

Now, here’s another thought-provoking question for you: can you imagine what it would be like when God executes justice? Isn’t it mind-blowing that complete justice is the only option for Him? Why do you think that is?
