God still speaks through the Holy Spirit

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 3:22)

The Lord Jesus wants to dwell in our hearts, as we read yesterday. In His letters to various Christian churches, Jesus also says, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” The Holy Spirit of whom Jesus speaks is also called “the Spirit of Christ.” So through Him, too, Jesus wants to speak to us, now that He is no longer physically present on earth.
One way the Spirit speaks is through the Bible: “men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:21)
But this same Spirit can direct believers in other ways as well, such as through the words of fellow believers, an audible voice, a dream, an inner conviction, or circumstances that guide us in a certain direction (see also Acts 2:16-18). Because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and never contradicts Himself, He will never say anything contrary to the Bible.
Just as a sheep recognizes the voice of its shepherd, believers may practice learning to recognize God’s voice. Over the past few days, we have studied different ways God wants to speak to us. Do you keep your ears open to hear His voice? How do you do this?
