The first blessing

”And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply nad fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:28)

In the first chapter of the first book in the Bible, Genesis, we read about the creation of everything that lives. When God created man, He wanted man to be like Him (Genesis 1:26). He has always remained connected to everything He created. But He longed for a personal relationship with man. God blessed the animals He created (Genesis 1:22). He left the first humans with an additional blessing and and commissioned them to have dominion over His creation (Genesis 1:28).
To pronounce a blessing is to express the wish that things will go well for something or someone. God’s blessings express His deep love for His creation. It shows His desire that everything He created would flourish and that all forms of life would continue to develop. Thus, the earth would be filled with God’s greatness. His blessing runs throughout the book of Genesis (Genesis 5:2; 9:1; 12:1-3). It is fundamental to our lives. Under God’s blessing, all life truly blossoms!
Before man was established on earth, he was blessed by God. What does that tell you?
