”Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 1:2).
Prayer is a wonderful way to bless one another. We have already read that God is the only source of blessing; only He can give us what He wants us to have. The way we bless one another always takes the form of a prayer. The letters in the New Testament often begin and end with a prayer of blessing. A prayer that God’s grace and peace will remain present in His church. Divine grace includes His goodness, forgiveness, and faithful presence. Including a blessing in our prayers is not using some kind of magic spell. A blessing is not a ‘power’ that people possess and can transfer to someone else. When you pray for someone, wishing them God’s peace and blessing, you bring that person to Him. And you express your desire that the other person will find rest in God. In this way, you remind each other of the Lord’s faithfulness and goodness. Through such prayers we encourage one another. And we need that mutual encouragement in order to be steadfast in our faith and to grow spiritually.
What is your prayer today for other Christians and your church?
