The angels’ song

“Glory to God in the highest. And on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased” (Luke 2:14)

While shepherds kept watch over their flocks at night, they were suddenly surrounded by a heavenly light. In that light, they recognized an angel who had a special message for them: The Saviour is born! The One who would bring joy to all Israel (Luke 2:10-11), because He is able to restore the relationship with God. The word Saviour, which means Redeemer, refers to this.
This joyful message was accompanied by the appearance of a whole army of angels. They proclaimed the glory of God with a song of peace: Glory to God for what happened this night! And no strife, but peace on earth!
The birth of Jesus was the next step in God’s peace process to reconcile humanity with Himself. He took steps that humans would never have thought of or have been capable of. Peace for people ‘with whom He is pleased’. These words express God’s love for people who need His forgiveness and renewal in order to become people ‘after His likeness’ again (Genesis 1:26). God’s Son was still a small and vulnerable baby in a manger. But heaven expressed its joy at what His birth would mean for all the earth.
Prayer: Thank You, Father, for Your loving care. Your love is inexhaustible. Today I sing along with the angels: All glory to You who loves people. All glory to You who gives us Your peace through Jesus Your Son. I pray that this love will be recognized and accepted by many people in this day and age.
Today I want to sing this song to You … (Choose a song yourself and sing/read it to God)
