A future in God’s light

“I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in Him.” (Isaiah 8:17)
When the prophet Isaiah spoke, it was a time of great turmoil. The people had turned away from God and rejected His Word. This was a grievous situation, and Isaiah’s mission was clear: “Bind up the testimony; seal the teaching among My disciples.” (Isaiah 8:16). In other words, nothing could be changed—God’s Word was too precious to be altered.
The Bible remains just as precious to us today. It offers guidance and direction for our lives. It provides everything we need to live according to God’s will and to flourish in His light.
Isaiah continued to trust in God, even in a dark and difficult time. He looked forward to the day when the LORD would bring light again (Isaiah 8:23). His unwavering faith and hopeful anticipation offer us a powerful example. In the midst of confusion and hardship, Isaiah chose to believe that God would act.
At that time, God had hidden His face from the people because of their sin. Do you find yourself in a similar place, where God’s presence feels distant? If so, turn back to the Lord. Serve Him again, for only He can save.
Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). In God’s light, your life has a future!
