“When you pray…”
(Matthew 6:5,6,7)

Prayer is talking with God. It is private communication with the God we serve and love and worship.

Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray, thereby taking for granted the importance of prayer. This was very clear from Jesus’ own example, since He often spent time talking with his Father in heaven, and from the Jewish tradition that the disciples grew up in.

Jesus stresses that prayer is a personal matter between a believer and God the Father. It is a means to praise God for His greatness, to thank Him for His love, and to ask for His help in difficult circumstances, or for others around us.

A good habit for Christians is articulated in a children’s song: “Read your Bible, pray every day!’

Is this what you do every day?
