Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.” (Colossians 1:1-2)

The apostle Paul has written many letters to individuals and churches he knew. He also wrote one to the church in Colossae. Even though Paul did not plant this church and probably never was in Colossae himself, he addresses the Christians there as “faithful brothers in Christ”. He wants to teach and encourage them so that they may grow in faith.

Nowadays, there are millions of Christians all around the globe. Since they are all children of God, they are also “brothers in Christ”. Even if they don’t know each other personally and will never get to meet each other, there is a bond of unity.

Being a Christian is first and foremost about your relationship with the Lord God. But He does not call you to be a solitary believer. He made you part of the worldwide church, and if at all possible, wants you to be part of a local community of believers as well!

The apostle Paul stayed in touch with believers. When he couldn’t meet them in person, he wrote letters or sent his co-workers.

Do you stay in touch with your spiritual brothers and sisters?
