The God of All Grace

Last updated on October 12, 2023

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 5:10-11)

Grace is another excellent quality of our fabulous God. It has been defined as giving us what we do not deserve, or putting it another way: God’s benevolence toward the unworthy. That is great enough all by itself; but grace is more than that. It is God’s power in us to live for His glory. Our wonderful God of grace never leaves us or forsakes us. God’s purpose is to always do us good, but that doesn’t mean we won’t suffer or be attacked by the enemy. Sin has ruined our world, and we suffer as a result whether or not it is our sin. God uses our suffering to strengthen us and cause our eyes to be focused on Him. His grace not only sustains us during the trial but restores and strengthens us after the trial.

We are saved by grace. Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”
Jesus Christ is the very embodiment of grace; John 1:14, “full of grace and truth.”

Reflection: What a joy to be grace-filled by our Lord Jesus Christ! He graces us with the will and the power to serve Him! Philippians 2:13, “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
