“And he looked at Jesus as He walked by and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God!” (John 1:36)
The next day John stood there again with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus coming, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world.”
John saw Jesus coming. He came from the desert after He had been tempted by the devil for forty days. And John pointed to Him. Look, there He is! “This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because He was before me.’”
The two disciples heard him say this and they followed Jesus.
When Jesus turned around and saw that they were following, He said to them: “What are you seeking?” They in turn asked Him, “Rabbi, where are you staying?” It was their desire to follow Jesus and stay with Him.
He said to them, “Come and you will see!”
They came and saw where He lived and stayed with Him that day. And it was about the tenth hour, John writes. This was an unforgettable moment. These men had found their Messiah!
What do you think the disciples expected when they went to follow Jesus?
