“This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested His glory. And His disciples believed in Him.” (John 2:11)
There was a wedding in the village of Cana at which Jesus’ mother Mary was present. Jesus and His disciples were also invited. At one point the wine was running low. Mary said to Jesus,” They have no wine!” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” Nevertheless, Mary said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” At the door stood six stone water jars, according to the cleansing custom of the Jews, each with a capacity of about one hundred liters.
Jesus told the servants to fill these jars with water, then take some of the water from the pots and give it to the master of the banquet.
This man tasted the water that had become wine. He did not know where the wine came from but the servants knew. Very surprised, he called the bridegroom and said, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the cheaper wine. But you have kept the best until now!” Mary trusted for a miracle. Her faith was not shaken.
What can we learn from Mary?
