True worship

“The woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, ‘Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?’” (John 4:28-29)

The Samaritan woman longed to be taught by Jesus. She had a question on her mind: Where should we worship God?
Is it on this mountain, where our fathers prayed, or should we worship God in Jerusalem?

Jesus answered her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.” He explained to her that soon, people would worship the Father in a new way, “in spirit and truth”. For “God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.”

The woman responded that she was awaiting the Messiah, who would explain everything. To her surprise, Jesus said: “I, who am speaking to you, am He.”
At that moment Jesus’ disciples returned and they were surprised that He was speaking to a woman. Yet none of them said anything about it.

The woman left her water jar and went into the city. Fervently she told the people Who she had met: the Messiah! And they all came to Jesus. What a powerful testimony!
