God is called blessed

”Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 1:3)

We can also read this Bible verse as follows: ‘All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ’ (Ephesians 1:3 NLT). God can bless us with material things, with health or with prosperity. Spiritual blessings are non-material gifts: forgiveness, salvation, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, or the strength to be faithful to God. We do not possess these due to our own efforts, they are gifts from above. We receive these blessings when we believe in Jesus. God Himself took the initiative to save us (Ephesians 3:4-14). That is why Paul did not boast. He gave God all the credit for the love, peace and strength that made him a new person. Blessing God does not mean that we want Him to have something He does not have. It means that we joyfully acknowledge that He is the source of every blessing in our lives. The word ‘every’ (Ephesians 1:3) indicates how many-sided these blessings are. Read Ephesians 1:3-14 to discover how God blesses His children!
Ephesians 1:3 is the beginning of a hymn of praise to God. For which spiritual blessings do you want to thank Him?
