Is it difficult to come to God?

“Enter by the narrow gate.” (Matthew 7:13)

In Matthew 7:13-14 Jesus is not saying that only a limited number of people can enter his Father’s kingdom. But entry to that kingdom is only possible through faith in Jesus. Jesus uses two images: a gate in a city wall and a path. It’s not easy to overlook a large and wide gate. It’s also easy to pass through. It makes no difference if you diverge to the left or to the right, there’s plenty of room. Sometimes you have to search for a small, narrow gate. You can also see the path as your life’s path, the direction you want your life to take. “Seek first the Kingdom of God,” Jesus said earlier (Matthew 6:33). It’s easy to get carried away by everything that gives you momentary happiness: to go along with the crowd without thinking about the direction in which you want to go.
If you want to follow the way of Jesus, choices are necessary. Jesus doesn’t say that it’s difficult to become a Christian, but He does say that there is only one way to get to God: and that is through faith in Jesus.
If you are in search of that gate and that path, you will find it and you will have access!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you that through you the way to the Father is open and accessible to everyone! Help me to be a good signpost for you.
I pray that ………. will find you too (fill in the names of people you want to see discover Jesus) will also get to know you.
