The blessing of God’s presence in our lives

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”
(Numbers 6:24-26)

Aaron was appointed to lead the Israelite worship service, and at the close of each gathering he was to dismiss the people with the blessing mentioned above. God’s blessing contains everything a person needs: forgiveness, healing, restoration, renewal, help, counsel, and love. It is an immeasurably rich gift.
In the worship services of the Christian church, we too receive the blessing of God Almighty—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is present among us and remains with us, both as a community and in our personal lives.
The blessing spoken by Israel’s priest carries power regardless of who the priest is; he is simply an instrument through whom God works. The same is true in the Christian congregation: our attention is not on the pastor but on the LORD, who lets His promise be heard.
God’s blessing means that He turns His face toward us, showing His power and authority. He makes His face shine upon us, meaning that the LORD pays attention to you and looks at you with affection. You may bring everything to Him. He is able to set all things right in your life. He cares deeply for your well-being.
To live under God’s blessing, it is essential to be reconciled to Him. He grants this through the sacrifice of His Son, the Lamb of God. Believe this gospel, and live each day as one who is blessed by God.
