“And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Then, opening their treasures , they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11)
Imagine discovering a star that signifies the birth of a King. You are at least 1,800 kilometres away from where He is. Then you decide to go on a journey with a few friends to pay tribute to Him. No aeroplane or car is available. You make the long journey through the wilderness on a camel. Once you arrive where He is, how would you feel?
The Magi have arrived at their destination, after completing their long journey. The star is still standing above the house, and so they go inside. Their eyes are drawn to the Child sitting with Mary, and their hearts are filled with holy reverence. They kneel before Him and worship Him.
This is the moment to give homage to this King. They open their treasure chests and bring out precious gifts. They lay gold, frankincense and myrrh before Him. The Magi have found their King. King Jesus, the Saviour.
