“But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.” (Luke 2:19)
After the shepherds’ visit, it became quiet again around the manger. What a special baby visit it had been!
After Mary laid her newborn Child in the manger, a group of shepherds entered. Simple men whose job was to keep watch over a flock of sheep.
As they entered, they stood by the Child in the manger full of wonder. With praise in their hearts.
Although it is not described in detail, we can imagine that they talked to Joseph and Mary about what happened to them that night.
Mary had a lot to think about. All the words she had heard took root in her heart.
She remembered the angel’s words, “You will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.” (Luke 1:31)
And as she wondered how this was possible, the angel had told her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.” (Luke 1:35)
Then, Mary’s answer was, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” Now He was born, the long-promised Savior. He is Christ, the Lord.
